In this workshop, you will experience a yoga practice that can unwind your body from the tightness created by running. Pranayama breathing exercises and a meditation that expand the lungs and clear the mind for a run that is comfortable and relaxed.
Curvy Yoga Lab: Sun Salutations
Next held on Sat, Aug 8, 2015 at 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
This enrollment runs from Sat Aug 8, 2015 - Sat Aug 8, 2015
Sun salutations: you see them in almost every hatha and vinyasa yoga class. This sequence of poses is ubiquitous, used to warm up the body and as a way to transition from pose to pose.
Though incredibly valuable, sun salutations can be also incredibly frustrating for curvy yogis. Our bodies don’t seem to be designed to move though the sequence easily and many of us leave classes feeling defeated.
I promise that you *can* make sun salutations your friend and practice them in classes is a way that supports your amazing body. In this yoga lab, we’ll break down each component asana, go over different modifications, how to skip parts of the sequence that don’t work for you, and how to work on moving with your breath regardless of which version you practice!

In a small group practice, we will work with lengthening the breath to create a lighter, clearer, and more efficient practice. Moving from breath work to posture is the basis for successful movement. This all-levels workshop will focus on easy movements to ensure a balanced afternoon.

Want to build strength but feel frustrated that endless planks seem like the only option? This yoga lab is for you!
We'll explore different ways to strengthen the arms, legs and core that work for your curvy body. Using props, breath and appropriate levels of body weight resistance, you'll learn exercises you can do on your own and during yoga classes to help you customize your practice, get stronger and mitigate injuries.
Options will be given for each exercise so beginners and more experienced yogis looking to take their practice up to the next level are welcome!
Yin Yoga: Energize, Balance, and Restore
Next held on Sun, Sep 20, 2015 at 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
This enrollment runs from Sun Sep 20, 2015 - Sun Sep 20, 2015
Enter into a deep meditative space in this two hour practice inclusive of yin postures, pranayama, meditation and restorative poses. As you allow yourself to soften into each pose over several minutes, release the active grip of the muscles and observe your breath, thoughts and emotions as you settle in. On a physical level, this practice helps to reduce tension in the muscles and promote flexibility. On the mental and emotional levels, the memories that may feel 'stuck' in our tense muscles have a chance to release from the body. This practice activates and balances our subtle body energy. It is a wonderful complement to an active yang practice as well as an entry into meditation through focusing on the senses. Once you have experienced more openness and flexibility in the body, we will integrate sitting meditation and breath work to further balance the energy and conclude with several restorative postures to deepen your capacity to let go. Prepare yourself to start the week refreshed and rejuvenated! All levels are welcome.
